As Chair of the NI Assembly’s All Party Group on Science and Technology, I always welcome the fantastic range of speakers we host in Stormont throughout the year.
Last week, we had a particularly interesting discussion on the use of GM food technology, and this is the 2nd out of three videos that I will upload to highlight key aspects of the discussion.
Dr Ewen Mullins gave an in depth record of his study into the potential positive impacts of GM technology. He is currently overseeing on quantifying the potential impact GM crop cultivation could have on Irish agriculture, as well as exploring biotech strategies to improve crop resistance against economically important diseases.
Dr Mullins is also a member of the European funded AMIGA Project which is assessing the impact of GM potatoes with blight resistance, with the aim of contributing to the wider GM debate.
