NI21 supports amendment to allow abortion in cases of fatal foetal abnormality, rape or incest.

NI21 Leader Basil McCrea MLA has signed an amendment to the Justice (No.2) Bill from Steven Agnew MLA to allow for abortion in cases of fatal foetal abnormality, rape or incest.
The amendment, due to be debated in the Assembly next Tuesday, would see a landmark change to abortion law in Northern Ireland.
A change to abortion law in Northern Ireland is long overdue. NI21 does not support the extension of the 1967 Act, but recognises that it is not humane to force someone in difficult circumstances to travel to England without the help and support of their family and medical practitioners.
The Courts have already declared our abortion laws to be incompatible with human rights; therefore medical services that are available in the rest of the United Kingdom should be available in Northern Ireland.

    This is a very difficult and challenging issue for women however within this whole debate is it ialso important for women experiencing such a trauma to find some comfort in being able to grieve over the death of the baby they give birth to
