World Mental Health Day

Mental Health

Today is World Mental Health Day 2015

It is estimated that one in five people in Northern Ireland has a mental health problem at any one time and we have higher levels of mental health illness than anywhere else in the UK or Ireland.

Despite this a report by Queens University on behalf of Action Mental Health highlighted under-financing of mental health services, describing the problem as a “systemic and long-term issue that is set to exacerbate in coming years”.

This is a growing problem with reducing resources.

We will be pressing the Health Minister (when he gets back to work) to urgently address this issue.
